Elena Rybakina and Aryna Sabalenka will start the WTA Finals in separate groups when the season-ending event opens on November 8 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Both can reach the semifinals even if they lose a group match, with two places available from each group.
Rybakina opens group play on Sunday in a section that includes both Americans in the singles field, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, as well as Linda Noskova. Sabalenka’s group starts Monday and includes Mirra Andreeva, Elina Svitolina and Karolina Muchova.
The semifinal pairings cross over between the groups on November 14, before the singles and doubles titles are decided on November 15. The first results will show how the two groups are taking shape.
